Michael Anthony Ostrowski, age 68, of Homosassa, FL, passed away to be with God our heavenly Father on March 8, 2023 at Bravera Health Seven Rivers Hospital in Crystal River, FL. Born on April 4, 1954 in Detroit, MI to Leonard and Helen (Wolkiewicz) Ostrowski. Michael was a U.S. Navy Veteran and he moved to Citrus County 50 years ago from Detroit, MI.
He was a Scale Operator in a rock mine for much of his working career, a volunteer firefighter in Citrus County, and he worked in the Maintenance Dept for a local skilled nursing facility and an assisted living facility for ten years, where he met his wife, Nancy. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans where he enjoyed being part of the unit. Michael was a former Chaplain for the Eagles. He greatly enjoyed traveling and seeing new places in America and abroad. He and Nancy went on several cruises and that was his favorite. He will be missed and forever loved.
In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Christine Ostrowski-French, and his sisters, Kathleen and Christine.
Left to remember him is his loving wife, Nancy Lee Ostrowski; one daughter, Michelle Nicole Ostrowski and her fiancée Dale; stepsons, Timothy Cannella and his fiancée Donnell, Gregory Schneider and his fiancée Samantha; one brother, Richard "Rick" Ostrowski and his wife Linda; one sister, Sharon DiGovanni; eight grandchildren, Lillian and her husband Leigh, Gage, Trevor, Brooke, Jonathon and his wife Helen, Mason, Kaleb and Abigail; nieces, Victoria and Pam; nephews, Douglas and Derek; many extended family and friends.
Private cremation will take place under the direction of Brown Funeral Home and Crematory in Lecanto, FL. Mass will be offered at 12 noon on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at St Scholastica Catholic Church in Lecanto, FL with Father William Santhouse as celebrant. A Rosary will begin at 11:30 a.m. prior to Mass at the church led by the Knights of Columbus. Burial will be at the Florida National Cemetery at 1 P.M. on Wednesday March 22, 2023 with Military honors rendered by the Citrus County Honor Guard.
