I read Edmund Burke and the Natural Law after having read several articles by Peter Stanlis on the First Principles website. I was so amazed with the clarity of his thought and the profound insights he had, that I simply called him to say as much. Accidentally, I called his home, and talked with Joan who was absolutely delightful. Sending Professor Stanlis a book review I wrote on his work, he honored me with several typewritten letters, autographed books, and a wonderful, passionate wit and insight. I am humbled that so great a man would spend so much time on me in the waning months of his life. We hoped to meet at a conference in May and in August at the Russell Kirk Center, but it was not to be. Professor Stanlis you will be missed. I am blessed to have had a small piece of your time, your brilliance, and your kindness. May we all continue to learn from this great man's works...

Dr. Stanlis was my professor in a literature class I took in 1978. He was an outstanding teacher and a great mentor. I will always remember him with immense fondness. Sally Wortman, Fort Myers, FL
