Robert William Taggart, of Inglis, passed away Monday, January 19, 2026 in Inverness. He was 74 years of age. Robert was born in New York, NY to the late Robert William and Marjory (Dixon) Taggart.
He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and then served in the Naval Reserve. He was a former Bailiff for the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, he also worked at the Sumter County Correctional Institute.
A great outdoorsman, Robert enjoyed being out on the water, kayaking, and fishing. He loved riding both horses and motorcycles. He enjoyed singing karaoke with his friends and family, especially country music.
Robert was preceded in death by his brothers, Lawrence Taggart (2015) and Steven Dixon (2013); and sister Susan Jones. Robert is survived by his sisters, Barbara Minnick of Homosassa, FL, Janet Sparks, of New York, and Dorothy Henick of Gainesville, FL; and his niece, Lori Lane and her husband James of Inverness, who took care of him the last few years. He will be missed by other nieces, nephews, and family members.
He will be laid to rest at a later date in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Arrangements are in the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Cremation Care, Inverness.
