I met Dr Dumas in 1968 when I worked on a Ranch. He asked me to help him that summer vaccinate equines for sleeping sickness in Sumter and Citrus counties. He drove to Oxford (what people call The Villages now) and pulled over at the 475/301 intersection and blew his horn 3 times. I was confused. Shortly farmers came leading horses, mules, donkeys and ponies from everywhere. We set up a table on his tailgate and vaccinated. It was like a tailgate equine party. I have so many memories of my days with Doc. He inspired me to go to college which helped me tremendously in life. He will be missed by so many people. My condolences to Marie, Debbie, Carolyn, and Ronnie and all of his extended family. Danny

Deepest sympathies for you loss. I remember Dr Dumas very fondly from years in High School when we were in and out of the Dumas household. Then later when he was our Vet. Always compassionate and caring. Very supportive of the youth in our county. He will be missed. Sending prayers for comfort to the family.
