Sandra Gay "Sandy" Koehler, 71, of Inverness, died at her residence on November 10th, 2025. Born in Calhoun City, MS, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie J. Jones and Ruth McCammon Whicker.
Sandy moved to Clearwater, Florida in 1984 from Indiana. She made Inverness her home and began teaching in Citrus County in 1986.
Mrs. K was an amazing elementary teacher, especially to her 1st grade and exceptional PreK students. She had so much love for them and they truly loved her.
She loved reading and was active in the Title I program. After retiring, she became a backyard birdwatcher and supporter of community cats.
Left to cherish her memory are her 2 daughters: Emily Roth of Atlanta, GA, and Alissa Koehler of Inverness; her grandson, Xander Roth; and her 2 sisters: Betsy Stoutmorrill of Jacksonville, FL and Vicky Bennett of Indianapolis, Indiana. In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 31 years, Don.
A Gathering of Remembrance honoring Sandy will take place Saturday, November 22nd, 2025 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home, 3075 S. Florida Avenue, Inverness, FL.
