Terry Mitteer Obituary

Terry Wartell Mitteer, age 57, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2017 at 12:35 p.m. at Hospice House in Citrus County while surrounded by her family.
Terry was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 23, 1960 to Harry and Beatrice Wartell, and was an amazing mother to her five children (Michael Mitteer, Michelle Castlebury, Daniel Mitteer, Nicole Fajna, and Taren Mitteer).
Terry had a passion for putting others first-she dedicated most of her energy toward enriching her children's lives, pampering her pets, and elevating others with her humor and kindness. Terry requested to be cremated and her remains spread privately by her children. The family wishes to thank all of those who donated to GoFundMe to assist them in their journey to be with Terry during her time in hospice care as well as Chaplain Larry Strickland and Deputy Steve Quinn for their critical support prior to the family arriving in Florida.
In honor of our mom, we would like to share some of our favorite memories:
Will: "She was my favorite drinking partner, which is why I cannot drink whiskey anymore. I love that she was the biggest klutz I have ever met! I can still remember her hilarious scream as she rode with me on my Harley."
Michelle: "She was my best friend-I could tell her anything and she would never judge me for it. I will miss staying up for hours laughing with her."
Nikki: "I always enjoyed the Sunday afternoons when we would watch horror movies together because no one else in the family liked to watch them! She and I were always so obsessed with animals and we would get so excited when we would see an animal together."
Taren: "I loved when she would jam out to music (I always think of her when I listen to Billy Joel and Cher), and I loved that she always smelled so beautiful."
Dan: "I loved the small, but significant memories with Mom. Her sitting with me on the Dumbo ride, when she would put on Billy Joel's Goodnight Saigon so I could pretend I was fighting in Vietnam, and all of the little special traditions she passed down to us for the holidays."
Mike: "When she would manage to make us all laugh by making up songs on long car rides and when she introduced us to stoop ball."
Dad: "She absolutely loved Christmas. For her, Christmas started in September. We would be up all Christmas Eve to sneak presents under the tree for the kids. She would arrange and rearrange the gifts for HOURS until they were just right. Her biggest joy was Christmas morning – seeing all of her children's reactions as they lit up seeing the cascade of gifts."
Everyone to Mom: "We know your favorite holiday was always Thanksgiving because the whole family was together. We want you to know that we promise to always stay close and spend time together to honor your memory with laughter and great food."
