Winifred Alice Freyer was born on June 5, 1937, the daughter of William F. and Madelaine Blair of the Laurel Hill section of Norwich, CT.
She attended grade school in Laurel Hill section of Norwich and graduated from high school at the Norwich Free Academy. Upon graduation she was employed by the American Optical Company as a prescription Clerk.
In 1957 she met and married Norman Freyer of Norwichtown, CT. They purchased a home in North Franklin, CT which was close to the workplace of both. In 1980, Norman was transferred to a new location near Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas. In 1984 they moved to a new location near Princeton, NJ. In 1987 his company moved to a location in Minnesota. In 1998, Norman retired and they decided to move South. They had friends in Sugarmill Woods and they built a new home in the Hammocks of Sugarmill Woods.
For many years, Winnie served as the librarian of the Hammocks cabana. Both she and her husband were active in Hammocks activities. They attended First Methodist Church of Homosassa. In the Fall of each year they spent several weeks at the timeshare condo they had purchased and still used until this year. Both were enjoying retirement in Florida. Winnie will be dearly missed by her husband Norm.
A Funeral Service will take place at Homosassa Chapel of Hooper Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior for Visitation.
Services are entrusted to Hooper Funeral Home.
