Bartholomew (Bart) Sherrill
December 30, 1968 - April 7, 2021
Born on December 30, 1968, to Anita and David Sherrill who preceded him in death, and he passed at the age of 52 on April 7, 2021. Bart leaves to cherish his memories, his children Charly Lyn, Jacob, James, and Ayden. Sisters April Sherrill, Jill Sherrill, and Caroline Sherrill. Two nieces Brittany Buxton and Destiny and many beloved cousins and friends. Bart is also survived by both his second wife Amy Shelton Sherrill and her children Elizabeth Madgwick and Chasidy Madgwick and his first wife Dorina Hearld Sherrill and her children Brandon Hearld and Ronald Hearld.
Bart graduated from Western Hills High School in 1988. After graduation he worked as a security guard before entering service in the US Army in 1991. After completing basic training, he served as a small arms specialist in Hawaii. Following his service in the Army, Bart followed in our father's footsteps and became a plumber. He worked for local plumbing companies and formed his own company. For several years, his company worked through a contract with MSD to investigate sewer backups in houses. To better provide for his family Bart also worked for as a seasonal employee for the Cincinnati Parks department before accepting a permanent full-time position with the Cincinnati Parks Department.
Bart became involved in a senseless altercation and was shot on March 30, 2020. The gun shot made Bart a Quadriplegic. He survived for over a year as a prisoner in his body. Most of his last year was spent in isolation with little contact with family because his phone taken from him and the hospitals and facilities providing care were told that he was a Do Not Announce (DNA) patient. Neither the police nor prosecutors advised any medical provider that Bart should be under a DNA status with any medical institution. The DNA status was used to isolate Bart from his family. He suffered through many infections, operation to remove part of digestive organs, several bouts of pneumonia. Soon after the tragic event, he coded at least 3 times and was resuscitated because the hospitals were not informed that he had advanced directives at the VA Hospital. He would be alive today, if one person had not insisted that he become involved in some else's domestic dispute.
Before the tragic events on March 30th, Bart was a very independent and active person. He worked hard in every endeavor that he attempted. He loved spending time with his children and spent much of his free time away from work at Lake Waynoka where he loved camping, boating, and fishing. There will forever be a hole in our hearts. He will always be missed and remembered.
A private family Memorial Picnic Grill Out was held to honor Bart's life on April 18, 2021, at Winton Woods Sweetgum Slope Picnic Shelter. No additional memorials or services are planned at this time. Donations may be made in Bart's memory to
your favorite charity.
