Brendan Mullaney Obituary

Brendan Joseph Mullaney

Brendan Joseph Mullaney, 54, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home on February 5th, 2021. Brendan was the doting father of two and the much-loved youngest of six siblings. Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, he attended St. Xavier and Walnut Hills High School and Miami University of Oxford. Brendan was a customer service expert and manager, working at Cincinnati Bell, Lasik and other major service providers. Brendan was also a gifted artist with a keen eye and a wonderfully perceptive and cutting sense of humor -- gifts that he bequeathed to his children and that delighted all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Brendan showed his true character after a debilitating stroke forced an early retirement and set him on a long and difficult path to rehabilitation. With extraordinary courage and stoic perseverance over many months, accompanied by persistent optimism, force of character, and a positive attitude, Brendan recovered his mobility and set out on a path of independence, artistic expression, and intellectual and spiritual exploration.

That Brendan left this world while on such a joyful upward trajectory is a source of both sadness and comfort to his friends and family, who got to share in his recovery before his death, but already miss him terribly.

Brendan is survived by Kris Mullaney and their two children Finian (Finn) and Arlie, as well as his parents, Mary Pat and Dale Mullaney, his loving brothers and sister, Dan (Jessica), Kevin (Beth), Sean (Dianna), Kathleen, and Matt Mullaney, and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Brendan's life will be scheduled in the coming months.

My deepest sympathies to the Mullaney family. I met Brendan at LasikPlus when he visited my center in Tampa for a week and enjoyed the many conversations we had about life in general. He had an awesome sense of humor and overall positivity. May he RIP

We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Kris, Arlie, Finn and the Mullaney Family. Brendan's great sense of humor, insights on the world and love of life was felt by all. Some of the best and memorable years of our lives was because Brendan was a part of it.
