Bruce Coffin Obituary
COFFIN Bruce P. Sr. of Cincinnati, OH died on April 5, 2002 at the Eddy Ford Nursing Home in Cohoes, NY. He was 84 years old. Mr. Coffin was born in Bronxville, NY and was graduated from Williams College in 1939 with an AB degree in English Literature. He was awarded a Masters in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School in 1941. A United States Naval Reserve veteran, Mr. Coffin served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during WW II and was honorably discharged with the rank of Commander. He was a patriot and staunch believer in the American system. Mr. Coffin joined the Procter and Gamble Company in Boston, MA in 1947 and retired in 1983 as Manager-General Offices at P&G's world headquarters in Cincinnati, OH. He was an active member of the Cincinnati chapter of Rotary International, and past member of the America Management Society, the Retired Officers Association and chapter president of United Way. He summered at a family retreat near Tupper Lake, NY for the past 76 years where he was an avid fisherman and golfer. He was also an active member of the Par Hopers of Cincinnati. He enjoyed the arts, music, theater, reading and world travel and alway kept physical fitness as a highest priority. Since December 20, 2001 Bruce Coffin has truly been in the arms of the angels at the Eddy Ford. The family is so grateful for the loving care and dignity that they provided. The family also wishes to acknowledge the fine care provided at The Wellspring, Wyoming, OH. Mr. Coffin is survived by his sons, Bruce Jr. (Jill) of Albany, NY and Daniel of Montreal, Canada; and daughters, Constance (Rich) of Lancaster, PA, Deborah of San Francisco, CA and Linda of Westport, NY. He leaves eight grandchildren; Spencer, Berkeley, Rebecca, Jessi, Greg, Jamie, Caren and Katie; his sister, Marjorie Mathews (Philip) of San Franisco, CA and many dear friends. His brother, Fielder, predeceased him. Memorial services will take place at a future date. Contributions in Mr. Coffin's memory can be made to the National Brain Tumor Foundation, The Eddy Ford Nursing Home or the National History Museum of the Adirondacks, Tupper Lake, NY.
