I was sadden to learn of Connie's passing. Connie was a woman who knew what she wanted, with a heart of gold always ready to help others from the first day we met in seventh grade at Princeton Jr. High School. Only God knows the paths for his children and he has called Connie home to glory! Our sincere condolences to Connie's family. No more pain, no more sadness, only tears of joy for Connie's soul.

connie was always supportive of me and our center when I was director of the West End Health Center. It was always good to know we could count on her. She was never pretentious and always concerned that African-American organizations had a seat at the table.

I will miss Connie, The Diva. What a beautiful person, and her enduring Faith. I have great memories of her laughter when we went to the Ohio State vs UC football game, her community service when we were separately honored by the Top Ladies of Distinction . This women is the personification of a believer. Her leadership in co-establishing the Flavor of Art Studio in Evanston. One of many organizations made better by her support and financial commitment. Connie was stylish, cool, and very smart. I will miss The Diva.

It has been said "The good die young"...in this instance there has never been a more true statement. But I must give Connie her due..."she fought the good fight (all in Jesus' name), she finished her course, she kept the faith", just like Paul. And now the Master has said "Well done thou good and faithful servant, well done". I lost my mother when she was 51 yrs old and now my prayers are with her daughter Nakia and with her mother & brother. Remember that God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we can ask or think...my heart is with you today. She was one of the nicest people to the new kid in school...I'll never forget!

Connie's passing is such a huge loss to our community. She was a tireless volunteer and was committed to the cause to eradicate breast cancer. Connie travelled with other advocates from the Breast Cancer Alliance of Greater Cincinnati (BCA) to Washington, DC in 2000 to learn more about the disease and to lobby Congress to support legislation regarding breast cancer research and access to health care. In 2004, Connie was awarded the Linda K. Heines Award of Inspiration. Linda was a founding member and first President of the BCA. Connie had a wonderful spirit and she will be sadly missed.

I have never really known any cancer survivor with so much resilience. Time and time again, Connie won many battles against the disease and held up the blood-stained banner as a model for others. She was so organized and precise. She made her mind up to do something and then she did it. Her determination was something to marvel at and she fought a good fight. She finished the race and she kept the faith.
As a councilwoman for the Village of Woodlawn, the council agreed with me, several years ago that whenever a Woodlawn resident leaves us this way the the flags will be lowered in their memory. I hope it is done, because many of us in Woodlawn went to Princeton with her. Connie comes from good stock! Gina Ruffin Moore, Woodlawn, Ohio

Connie was such a dear and wonderful friend. She was so passionate about reaching out to others regarding the importance of breast cancer issues and its devastating impact on women - especially African Americans. She was very instrumental in helping other women and was one of the co-founders of Sisters Network Cincinnati - formerly a breast cancer organization that helped so many women during their breast cancer experience. She will be sorely missed.

The world has lost a champion of change for women’s health and welfare. I recall with a heavy heart the many times Connie and I sat together with both women’s groups and media outlets to raise the awareness of the importance of personal health care advocacy. She used her position in the community as a vehicle to keep the issue of breast cancer in the forefront of not only women but also public policy-makers. Connie was a woman of great faith and I know her spirit will continue to bolster those of us who carry on her crusade. Connie’s life was a blessing to many and I hope the family and friends can take comfort knowing how many people Connie touched with her life.
