Deepak BHANDARI Obituary
BHANDARI Dr. Deepak, a respected, renowned and beloved cardiologist succumbed to cancer Friday evening at The Jewish Hospital. Born in India on July 25, 1952, he received a degree in Medicine and Surgery from Osmania University. A lifelong student, Deepak continued his education by later earning an MBA. After completing his Internal Medicine and Cardiology training in the USA, he began a Cardiology practice at The Jewish Hospital where he was a pioneer in cardiac electrophysiological studies for the Greater Cincinnati area. An exceptional and venerated educator, he was recognized by students at The Jewish Hospital and University Hospital by being bestowed the title of Teacher of the Year. However his praise was not limited to his students, as Dr. Bhandari was further honored by his colleagues as he served a term as President of Comprehensive Cardiology Consultants Inc. A kindly man with an insatiable passion for life and an eternal optimist, Dr. Bhndari was always eager and ready to aid anyone who sought his help or advice. An exemplary physician, Deepak always stressed patient interaction by placing a premium on bedside manners and always treating his patients with compassion and care. He set an example for family and friends alike as he faced his prolonged struggle with uncommon poise and extraordinary dignity. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Sadhana Bhandari; his son, Sanjay; his daughter, Pooja; his father, Dr. Satya Parakash Bhandari; mother, Janak Khuller; his sisters Dr. Veena Sawhney and Madhu Dhamija and their families; his parents-in-law, Brigadier and Mrs. V.P. Bakhshi; and brothers-in-law Commodore Vineet Bakshi, and Dr. Virat Bakshi and their families. A service will be held at Jon Deitloff Funeral Centre, 4389 Spring Grove Ave. (45223) (513-853-1035) at 10 A.M. on Monday, June 27. A special prayer ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 28 at the Greater Cincinnati Hindu Temple at 4920 Klatte Road, 45244 (513-528-3714) a 5 P.M. All are welcome to attend and meet with the family. To show his dedication and gratitude to The Jewish Hospital for giving him the start of his exceptional and productive career, Deepak established a cardiology education fund so as to ensure that his lifelong commitment to medical education would continue even after his passing.
