Edna Asbury

Cincinnati - Edna MacKnight Asbury, age 98, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2021. Loving wife of Dorsey Frost Asbury for 53 years and caring stepmother of Robert (Jody) Asbury and Jane (Lincoln) Williams, grandmother of Margaret, Sydney, Neil and Emily and five great grandchildren. Cherished aunt to James MacKnight, Dr. David (Carol) MacKnight, Martha (Richard) Woodie, Mary Middendorf, Suzie Sparks, David (Gretchen) MacKnight, Richard (Sharon) MacKnight, and Helen (James) Long and many great nieces and nephews. Edna grew up in Fort Thomas, Kentucky and graduated from Highlands High School. She worked her entire career at Shillito's and was the long time Administrative Assistant to senior management at the store. In 1965 she married Dorsey Asbury and they shared a loving and joyful life of square dancing, ballroom dancing and round dancing often performing in regional events. Edna also always loved softball, bowling and bridge. She was a member of Hyde Park Center for Older Adults and the Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church where she volunteered for 15 years doing the church newsletter. She also served as the President of the Society of Engineering Women's Group. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church Ministry Endowment or to the Marjorie P. Lee Retirement Center where she moved with Dorsey living there for 13 happy years. Further arrangements will be made to remember the spirited life of Edna MacKnight Asbury at a later date.
