Edward Dewey Obituary

Edward (Ned) Dewey

Victoria, Texas - December 26, 1927 - December 11, 2018

Ned Dewey passed away in Victoria, Texas after a short illness. Ned is survived by his wife of 65 years, Claire (Evans). Ned was a loving father to Edward (Ned) Dewey (Ann), Anne (Dewey) Davenport (Richard Mackey), and Charles Dewey (Barb). Grandfather to Christopher (Megan) and Thomas (Christina) Davenport, Evan (Dewey) Kelley (Blake), Claire, Blake (Amanda), Caroline, and Taylor Dewey. Great Grandfather to Annika, Erik, James, Emily, William, and Walker.

Ned graduated from Brown University in 1950 as a decorated sports star, having played Baseball, Football, and Ice Hockey for Brown. Ned was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the US Navy on the USS Missouri. Ned had a long and successful career of managing manufacturing businesses in several locations around the USA and in England, including 5 years at LeBlond in Norwood. Ned and Claire especially enjoyed their years living in Mariemont, where all three children went to Mariemont HS.

Ned will be remembered as an avid golfer, playing and shooting his age, well into his eighties. He continued to play hockey, as well, but had to give that up in his 50's as a young man's game. His biggest accomplishment was playing all of the British Open venues during his years in the UK. He was Club Champion at Hyde Park Country Club in the early 70's.

Ned and Claire lived in south Texas for the past 35 years, loving their house on the water. Ned spent his days golfing and fishing off his dock - rebuilding the dock so many times due to Hurricanes!

Ned and Claire moved to a memory care facility in Victoria, Texas in 2015.

The family has decided on a private remembrance.

Donations in Ned's honor may be directed to the SPCA or your local Animal/Rescue Shelter - he did so love his dogs and cats.
