Ella Mode Obituary
Ella Faith Mode, born September 8, 1993 in Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away January 31, 2017 in Boston, MA at the age 23. Ella was the precious daughter of Karen Mode Lightfield (fiancé Andy Geraci) ; adored big sister of Zane, Josie and Ian Lightfield; beloved granddaughter of Robert A. Mode; cherished fiancée of Gregory Krummel; best friend of Erin E. Benner; niece of Lori and Eric Wagner, Rev. Dr. Jonathan Mellette and Sheryl Mellette; great niece of Janet Mode, Christine and John Nagel; cousin to Logan and Alex Nagel, Zoe and Sabrina Wagner, and Matthew and Grace Mellette. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Sherry (Duncan) Mode, great-grandparents, Robert W. and Pauline A. Mode. Ella graduated from Hollins University in Roanoke, VA in 2016 with Bachelor of Science degrees in biology and psychology. She moved to Boston after graduation and not long after had a bone marrow transplant to cure a rare blood disorder. Sadly, the outcome was not what we had hoped and we lost her. She fought a heroic battle. She will be terribly missed. Ella's family would like to express deep gratitude to Jeffrey, Kimberly, Rachel and Timothy Marsh for opening their home and hearts to her while she was ill and away from home. They became a second family to Ella and took care of her 24/7. Our hearts are with them as we grieve this profound loss together. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Ella's name to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute-Pediatric patient assistance fund. Visitation will be Tuesday, 2/7/2017 at 10 am at Spring Grove Funeral Home (4389 Spring Grove Ave.) until the time of service at 10:30 am. Ella will be laid to rest at Spring Grove Cemetery.

I'm so sorry for your loss I didn't know Ella well but I have seen her on campus a lot the last few years and could tell she was a kind person she always would give me a smile or a wave while I was working.
