Emily CARNAN Obituary

CARNAN Emily St. Clare Brown Carnan was born the second oldest of five children on June 7, 1914, in Glendale, Ohio to Bruce Whiting and Alice Bruce Brown. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Walter (Buck) Carnan, who died in 1996; a daughter, Valiant Carnan Holloway, who died in 1983; and a son, Christopher Bruce Carnan, who died in 2009. Emily is survived by a daughter, Alice Carnan Winn, and her husband, Washington C. Winn, Jr. of Shelburne, Vermont, a daughter-in-law, Nancy M. Carnan of Richmond, Virginia; grandchildren Washington III and Susan Winn, Charles McIntyre Winn, Emily St. Clare Carnan-Salsbury and Eric Ray Salsbury, Bess Carnan, and Maggie Carnan; and great-grandchildren, Emily Erin Winn, and Tyler Washington Winn. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Marian Neall Brown of Berwyn, Pennsylvania, and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at St. Paul's Memorial Church, 1700 University Avenue, Charlottesville, Virginia, 22903, on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Interment services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The Charlottesville Free Clinic, 1138 Rose Hill Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22903 or Martha Jefferson House, 1600 Gordon Avenue, Charlottesville, Virginia 22903.Friends may sign the online guest register at www.hillandwood.com
