Gregory Ernst Obituary
Colerain Twp. - Gregory J. Ernst, beloved husband of Kathy (nee Wheeler) Ernst. Devoted father of Kristin Ernst, Nick Ernst (Madelyn Cox), Jake Ernst (Vanessa Petranek) and Isabella Ernst. Son of the late Robert and the late Barbara (nee Ries) Ernst. Brother of Rob (Nancy) Ernst, Jenny (Dave) Beitz, Joe (Sharon) Ernst, Matt (Jessica Hannika) Ernst and Rick (Mary Beth) Ernst. Son-in-law of Doris (nee Riedinger) Wheeler and the late Richard Wheeler. Brother-in-law of Rick (Chris) Wheeler, Anne (Bob) Koop, Janet (late Dave) Goodman, Linda Trenn and Jim (Nicki) Wheeler. Greg passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at the age of 54 after a long fought battle with cancer. Visitation (only 30 people at any given time allowed in the building) at Frederick Funeral Home, 2553 Banning Rd. on Friday (Dec 11) from 5-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will held at St. James Church (White Oak) on Saturday (Dec 12) at 10am. Face masks are required. Social distancing must be practiced. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to LaSalle High School, 3091 North Bend Rd. Cincinnati, Oh 45239 or St. James School, 6111 Cheviot Rd. Cincinnati, Ohio 45247. Earlier today, I attended the beautiful funeral for Greg. So sad he has passed, but clearly a life well led. Kathy, kids, and all the Ernst and Wheeler familes - I hope all the good memories outweigh the struggles he went through, and know Greg's legacy will be all his loving family and friends. We all have learned from his positive example on how to handle life's challenges. Thank you Greg for always taking the time to say hi and take an interest when I saw you. May you rest in peace knowing you left this world a better place.

Greg was a great person who I got to know real well from a bowling league. He was always so positive and so selfless in how he lived his life. Anyone who knew Greg was definitely a better person through his friendship. I love you Buddy and you will always have a special place in my heart. Rest In Peace my friend.

We are so sorry to hear that Greg lost his hard fought battle with cancer. The entire Ernst family is in our hearts and prayers!
It was a blast being able to play ball with him (and later against him) in the LaSalle Alumni Softball League. I will always remember the great times on and off the field playing for "The Other Team", "MYASIS Dragons" and who could forget "DUI Matt"!
He is a great man, teammate and friend that always had an engaging personality and smile. I can definitely see him "Rounding Third and Heading for Home" with a huge smile and a cigar! Rest easy my friend!

I still and maybe never will accept that your gone. Your fight and our late night text messages about everything from life to sports continue make me miss you. Christmas in heaven was just greatly improved! Your endless positivity will live on in your family. I miss you so much and love you bro!
