I was thinking of Jan today - again - no particular reason but he always comes to mind. He made me feel so welcome when he was a senior resident at UC when I started the program. I stayed in touch with him after I completed my residency and he was always there to provide suggestions for the care of my family in the Cin-Day area and always had the BEST advice for how to enjoy Disney. Such a kind soul and competent dedicated physician rolled into one is not all that common, and I know he is missed by many.

I just found out about Jan's passing. I was one of his first employee's in his brand new medical practice in Lebanon, OH...I believe that was 1981 and I worked there for 5 yrs. I saw him once at Bethesda North after he became an anesthesiologist. Deepest sympathy to his family.

Sharon and family---so sorry to hear of Jan's passing. Was so glad to see him at the Cincy Denison event right before he was diagnosed (I took a great picture of him)and to talk with him on the phone. He is in so many of my childhood memories (I grew up in Columbus)----from Miss Pott's Dancing School to shows at Columbus Junior Theatre of the Arts (our first show together was A Christmas Carol). Also attended Denison with him and we'd always catch up at reunions. He'll be greatly missed. Love and prayers-- Cissi (Bloom) Glickfield

I was one of the guys in Boy Scouts back in the 70's when he first started in Northside. Great times back then... going to the Dairy Farm in Columbus, staying in the barracks at the Air Force base, and other things that offered us another view of the world. He will sadly missed and so sorry that lost touch.

Jan will always be a big part of my life. See I was one of many of kids that grew up in Northside, a neighborhood of Cincinnati, that had the fortune to be one of Jan's Boy Scouts. I am certain that the time he spent with me and other kids in my neighborhood changed our life for the best. Living in Northside we had plenty of temptation to go astray to get into trouble but Jan was there to put us on the right track. I am proud to say that I stayed out of trouble and became a police officer in 1990 and currently working for the State of Ohio as an Investigator. I am also raising my 16 year old son with the same good values I learned from Jan. Thank you Jan for being there. Scottie

My sympathy to his family. Many in his family have given so much to the anesthesiology community. Jan was a really special person. We were residents together and served the Ohio Society of Anesthesiology together. He was strong and smart.

Jan and I attended the same high school and college, and most of our interaction was in that backdrop. Jan was our tireless class agent for Academy, and obviously put in many long hours besides his busy medical practice. The last time that I saw him, at our 40th reunion, we spoke about being medically retired, and the frustrations that accompany that. Be at peace, Jan; see you on the next level.

Jan was my mentor and friend since I met him as a medical student. His positive encouragement and guidance helped me to choose my career in Anesthesia. More importantly was his deep sense of care to his patients and the friends he kept. He will be sadly missed by our family and we wish you peace in the time of grief.

It is with great regret that I have lost my friend of 49 years. A wonderful father to his family, good and kind to all he met. Hi passing will leave an emptiness in all of his beloved friends and family. "entrust the past to God's mercy, the present to His love, and the future to His providence.
