James Louis Ricketts

James Louis Ricketts, 87, of Plevna, Ala., passed away on Monday (Feb. 15, 2016) at his residence. He was born on March 29, 1928 in Madison County, Ala., son of the late Andrew Kelly and Naomi Cowley Ricketts. Mr. Ricketts was a self-employed farmer and retired truck driver. He was a faithful member, deacon and Sunday school teacher at the Oakley Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Lois Ricketts Scivally. Mr. Ricketts is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mildred Echols Ricketts of Plevna; daughter, Patsy Steakley of Plevna, Ala.; son, Freddie Ricketts of Plevna; grandchildren, Carla and Bruce Warden, Stacy and Mike Ellis, Kristi and Josh Womack, Brandi and Trey Phillips, Clay Ricketts, Korey Steakley; great-grandchildren, Nick Warden, Tyler Womack, Will Ellis, Lanee Phillips, Allie Jae Phillips; and his beloved dog, Bella. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Bro. Charlie Hammons officiating. Burial will follow in the Miller Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
