Mary Hugan Obituary
Bellevue - Mary Jill "MJ" Hugan, 57, of Bellevue, passed away on Monday, November 11th. MJ had a successful law practice, M.J. Hugan, LLC, in Cincinnati. MJ was preceded in death by her parents, Clare Charles Jr. & Patricia (nee English) Hugan. She is survived by her daughter, Cecilia Donovan; sisters, Pam Herdy & Suellen (Sandy Boothby) Hugan and brothers, Chris (Bernadette) Hugan & Chuck Hugan. Services were held at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to the Suicide Awareness Voices of Education (SAVE.org), Ohio Justice and Policy Center (ohiojpc.org) or the Ohio Innocence Project (ohioinnocenceproject.org). Online condolences can be given at dmefuneral.com. Dobbling, Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Homes are serving the family.

MJ was a regular in my courtroom especially on the domestic violence docket. She represented those clients, (I suspect mostly for free), who were victims of violent acts. She was highly competent, and in my experience an ethical, tough, yet respectful attorney. I am saddened such a yeoman lawyer has left us. The Bar is a little less without her.

I'm completely shocked. Miss Hugan was a top shelf defense attorney, tackling very tough cases, but still had compassion and empathy for communities affected by the conduct of her clients. She was a very lovely woman, with impeccable comportment. My sincere condolences to her devoted daughter, whom Miss Hugan adored, and her family. This is such a shock and so sorrowful.
