Norma Walker Obituary
- - Norma Lee Walker died on Sunday, September 30, 2018. Norma was born on April 9, 1944 in Whitley City, Kentucky. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters and survived by nieces and nephews. She attended UK and remained an active sports fan, and graduated from Cumberland College in Kentucky. Norma's favorite things were friends, pets, parties, travel and politics/government! Settling in Cincinnati, she became involved in election campaigns for city council, school board, and for judicial candidates. She served as a court bailiff and ended her career as an aide to a Cincinnati City Council member. Norma valued friends and family, and family included the many pets she rescued, adopted and loved. She will be missed by all. A celebration of Norma will be held on Sunday, October 21 from 4:00 to 6:00pm at Ruth's Parkside Café in Northside, 1550 Blue Rock St. Memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA or a charity of one's choice.

I met Norma when I was a student at UK. I remember her wry sense of humor. I remember going to see A Hard Day's Night with her. I remember her getting her shoes shined at shoe shine stands. I remember a very memorable trip to visit her in Williamsburg. Ken Bruce, George Bruce and perhaps John Keddie and I drove to Jellico for a spirited night of drinking and dancing to the band who kept playing "Sugar". I lost my HS class ring that night. I have not seen or talked to Norma in so many years but I remember her with great affection. She was a very kind soul. My heartfelt condolences to her family.
