Richard BIERY Obituary
BIERY Richard "Rick" Biery, Avid Cincinnati REDS fan and Collector of hats. Rick Biery knew no strangers. Everyone that met Rick liked him immediately. He had a fun loving personality and a smile/laugh that would light up the room. He loved to joke with people and invented nicknames for family and friends. Rick had a huge heart and felt compassion for all. He showed genuine concern when someone he knew was ill. He touched the lives of so many. Rick collected all types of hats and was rarely seen without wearing one. Family, coworkers, staff, and even strangers purchased hats for Rick. Rick was also a true Cincinnati REDS fan. He remained loyal to the REDS despite their record. In fact, the very last television program he watched was the Cincinnati REDS game on Saturday evening. Rick died at home after a long illness on Sunday, May 27, 2007 at the age of 48. His mother (Helen E.) and father (William F. Sr.) preceded him in death. He leaves behind six brothers: William Jr. (wife Vicki or "Molly") of Claryville, Charles "Carl" (wife Jackie or "Dolly") of Newport, Donald or "Ollie" (wife Margie) of Monfort Heights, Ken or "Lou" (wife Sandy) of Erlanger, Robert "Bob" of Newport, and John (wife Tillie) of Ft. Wright; 11 nephews, 3 nieces, and 20 great nieces and nephews. Rick also leaves behind a dear friend, Mary Britt. Rick grew up in Newport. He attended Redwood School for 8 years. He still spoke often of his "old school". He began working at New Perceptions following graduation from Redwood School. Rick loved his job and his friends at New Perceptions. Rick rarely missed a day of work unless he was very ill. Rick participated in a bowling league through Short / Long Term for many years. He also enjoyed attending dances through The Point. Rick was a member of Holy Spirit Parish in Newport Kentucky. He loved to go to church and if he was unable to attend in person, he made certain he watched mass on TV. Rick lived with his brother Bob in Newport. Bob was Rick's primary care giver since the illness and death of their mother. Rick and Bob were inseparable. Whatever Rick needed or wanted, Bob saw that he had it. Rick was the happiest when he was at home with Bob watching Food Network (Emeril), TV Land, and REDS with a coke and a bag of potato chips.
