JACOBS Robert Miles (Bob), 91, took God's hand on July 3, 2010 at HeritageSpring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in West Chester where he had lived with his wife the last 4 1/2 years. Survived by Mary Jane Shelton Jacobs, his devoted wife and best friend of 66 years, son Robert S. Jacobs and daughter Lisa J. Jacobs. Preceded in death by his daughter Suzanne Jacobs whom he and his wife lovingly cared for at home for 48 years, his parents Fremont and Rose Jacobs of Hartwell, five brothers and one sister. Bob was born in Winton Place, Cincinnati, on January 9, 1919. His employment career began at the early age of 9 when along with his brothers, he was caddying at golf courses all around Cincinnati. In 1928 he began caddying at Wyoming Country Club, turned caddie master at age 17, and later became their Assistant Golf Professional. Bob was still a scratch golfer in his 70s, held three lifetime holes-in-one, and many other awards. In retirement he was a starter at Kenwood Country Club, and Golf Professional at Eagle Tee in West Chester. Bob met his wife Mary Jane when working at Crosley Radio Corporation, and they married on March 18, 1944. He later became plant superintendent for Sakrete concrete, and traveled the US and Mexico supervising their plant expansion program. Bob was also plant superintendent for Marquette Cement for over 10 years. He retired as a manager for Stearns & Foster in Lockland in 1981. Bob and his wife were active at Maple Knoll Center for 15 years as members of the billiards team. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing with his son, daughters, brothers and nephews. Bob will be most remembered for his generous nature, his love of hearing and telling a good joke or story, and his devotion to his wife and children. He was a man that everyone liked and everyone liked being around. He lived and loved with unwavering character and a sincere heart. Bob is remembered by all who knew him and will be terribly missed until we see him again. Private services. Condolences to PO Box 13, 45071.
