Worked with/for Bob on many projects. He will be missed

August 9, 2018

I have many fond memories of working with Bob at the City of St. Petersburg. Our adjacent offices allowed for many laughs and frequent communication. Quite recently he told me how much joy his grandsons brought into his life.
May he rest in peace.

Bob'The Suit'Leighton was a dear friend. We enjoyed many great times and laughs leading up to and experiencing the '99 Final Four as well as the early Devil Rays days. A great friend to many. RIP Suit. Thanks for numerous great memories.

I was sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I returned to St.Petersburg in May of 1987 to become the City's first Downtown Redevelopment Administrator. Several months later Bob joined our team as the City's first Downtown Facilities Director. During Bob's tenure with the City he oversaw the management of the Pier, the Bayfront Center and the City's new 45,000 seat MLB stadium that eventually became known as Tropicana Stadium. Bob was a critical part of our team and in addition to his normal facility management duties he: played a significant role in the construction of the stadium and the Pier; had a significant role in our efforts to acquire the Rays franchise; pursue an NHL frachise; and, helped to put downtown St.Petersburg on the map as a major entertainment destination. My condolences and God's blessings to Bob's family. May he Rest In Peace.

I worked with Bob for a few months about 10 years ago. The job was crappy, but it was so much fun to work with him. I was surprised and saddened to see he has passed away; he was a terrific guy. Please accept my condolences.
