Dearest Diane, Matt, Marie, Joan, and spouses,
Just received your letter, Diane, and I can't tell you how deeply saddened I am. Bob was a great light in your lives and the love you all have for him is so palpable in your eulogy, Matt. I remember Bob as a man of enthusiasm, compassion, and hospitality. Serious or funny, it was great to be around him, going back almost 40 years ago.
You are all held in my heart and prayers as you grieve, and I join you in the great chorus of thanksgiving for his holy life.

Dear Diane and all the beautiful family of Bob, grace and peace! I just wanted to take this more public way to give testimony about the great man of God, Bob, whom I have come to know, love and respect so very, very much in these last years since we have reconnected. Today is the feast of St. Therese of the Child Jesus who taught the "little way": doing countless acts of love, goodness, kindness and faithfulness with a quite, holy grace. In my experience of Bob and Diane, it is hard to imagine a more fitting way to understand and see their holy and precious lives together and individually. A man and woman of God whose lives reflected and made real day by day that same divine, holy Presence. Thank you, Bob, for the precious, holy, loving testimony of your life. You will be sorely missed on this side of heaven, but I rejoice with you that you might enjoy forever that Light and Life which you and Diane already shared in so abundantly on this side of the veil. Peace and blessings, my brother! Thank you for the gift of your life! Fr. Dennis, ST

We remember BOB from thedays he was at Monroe, and used to come visit our house, when lots of the other students did. In fact,he was,I think, one of Palmer's tutors when Palmer broke his thigh and had FJMS STUDENTS TO GIVE HIM HOME CLASSES.
BOB WAS SO FRIENDLY,AND LIKEABLE,,AND SO VERY POLITE. WE SHALL KEEP HIM, AND HIS FAMILY, IN OUR PRAYERS. JEAN CAMM.

Bob was a wonderful person-full of life and happiness. In his next destination, the team there will have a wonderfully wacky clean up hitter. We love and miss you Bob.

Diane, I am so sad to learn of your sudden loss. I will always remember Bob for his easy and crazy laugh, and his gushing, childlike joy and enthusiam for everything. Thank you for inspiring and organizing the 2004 Trinitarian alumni gathering in Holy Trinity--we now have a vibrant email group and true alumni community as a result. Thank you for putting up me an Robbie and Kayo Sato of Japan when we were unexpectedly "homeless" in Cincinnati on a dark and raining evening after seeing Treasures of the Vatican. You were magnificent hosts, even sending Bob out to buy the right crackers to go with wonderful homemade soup. While you and Kayo talked on and on about Southeast Asia, Bob and I talked seminary, and later Bob showed me the most remarkable and moving story he wrote about his dad (which belongs in an anthology), and the most amazing story about his early education (which should be required reading for EVERY teacher and student)--they were that good! Bob will be sorely missed, but his spirit will always be with us because, in truth, LOVE FREELY GIVEN HAS NO BEGINNING AND NO END.

Dear Diane, Marie, Matt and Joan,
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I wrote a few words below as an expression of gratitdue to your husband and father.
Much love,
Marguerite
Bob, I will not forget your spirit filled with deep passion and gratitude for life
Recounting early dates and your undying love for Diane,
Your kindness and generosity to friends you knew were alone,
Sharing stories and books on spirituality and of course Thomas Merton-
Like ‘Babette's Feast' on special occasions you carefully prepared meals
Complete with corn meal mush, jerk rubbed salmon, beef stew,
Sweet potatoes, your famous fratata and of course 2 buck chuck,
Along with Diane's hot milk cakes as
An outpouring of appreciation
Elevating us physically and spiritually,
A mystical redemption of the human spirit,
Always followed by something fun like the Blues Brothers or Buena Vista Social Club.
Your inclusive and humble nature, your joy,
Your clear insight on life and deep love of God ,
It was a great privileged to have known you as a friend, Bob.
Your inspiration will continue to live on in those of us who have been touched by your kindness and generosity.
May God keep you in the palm of his hand - until we meet again.
