Roderick Malone Obituary
Cincinnati - Roderick Angus "Rory" Malone. Born January 7, 1937, the son of the late Leonard and Isadora (nee Plunkett) Malone.
He attended Culver Military Academy, Culver, IN, and was a graduate of Marmion Academy, Aurora, IL. He graduated from Loyola Medical School, Chicago IL. He proudly served two years as an officer in the Navy at the US Naval Hospital in Portsmouth Va. Roderick was an anesthesiologist who was on staff at the University of Cincinnati and later retired from Good Samaritan Hospital.
Husband of Mary Margaret (nee May) Malone and the late Mary Ellen (nee McGeoghegan) Malone. Father of Beth (Tom) Schurr, Patty (Rick) Lauck, Rick (Karen) Malone, Michael (Rhonda) Malone and Jennifer (Phil) Werner. Survived by 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also survived by best friend and "brother" Patrick J. (Mary Ann) O'Connor. He was loved by all knew him. Passed on July 10, 2020 at age 83. Resident of Hyde Park.
Private committal will be held with the family. Memorial service will be announced at a later date.

He was one of the many faces I sought out for on Sundays to say hello to.

Rory was my Dad's best friend when he was a live. Ray Moorman and Rory had many happy times together buoyed by Rory's positive outlook on life. I was so happy when Rory and Marge married after Ray and Mary's passing. My heart goes out to Marge and all of Rory's family as we lose his generous and gregarious spirit. Peace be with all of you.

Beth, I am so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. He was such a big part of Good Sam while I was there in the late '70s & early '80s. One afternoon, he took me on a tour of the OR & let me watch an open-heart surgery. Pushed me right up front, so I could see everything! A very crazy opportunity for a sophmore biology major from UC. And I was just a part-time, 2nd-shift hematology lab technician who happened to know & work with his daughter. I'm not sure he even knew my name but because I knew his daughter that was good enough for him, I guess. I'll always remember that he gave me that opportunity. You & your family are in my prayers.

I have known Rory my whole life. His mother Dorie, was my aunt and the Cheevers and Malones spent a lot of time together. One of my fond memories is being in the South Shore Country Club follies with Rory and my sisters Nancy and Carol.
We were all happy when Rory married Carols best friend Mary. What a lovely family they produced together. Thanks to Facebook I still can keep in contact and see what you are all doing.
Sorry, but because of the times I will be unable to celebrate his life with you all.
