Sheila MILLECK Obituary

MILLECK Sheila Kathleen, 80, born September 17, 1923, died Monday, June 4, 2007 following a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Milleck. She was born to parents Arthur Joseph Byrne and Christine Dempsey in Sandy Cove Harbor, County Dublin, Ireland. She left Ireland to work in London, England and was there during WWII from 1940 until 1947 when she immigrated to the States. Her hard work and charming personality landed her positions in the households of some of England's finest including the late Lord and Lady Howard deWalden and opera's great, the late Kyra Vayne. In 1952 she became an American citizen. Blessed with a beautiful soprano voice she sang at many Irish American functions, on radio and TV. She was a founding member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, St. Brigid's Division, and held offices at the local, state and national levels. She belonged to the American Irish Club and the Cincinnati Irish Folk Dancers and volunteered for numerous charities. She is survived by her beloved daughter and son-in-law Pamela Byrne Riley and Richard B. Riley, of Union, KY, her sister Pamela (Tom) Sinnott, brothers, Paul (Mary) Byrne, Anthony (Mary) Byrne, E. P.(Sylvia) Jackson, sister-in-law, Rita Leary, and nephew, nieces, great nephews and great nieces all of London, England, her good friends, Ben and Pat Riley of Union, KY, Therese Sprinkle and Dr. Ben Kordenbrock of Park Hills, KY, Walt Becker of Madeira, "her boys" Kyle, Bert, David, and Steve, and her faithful feline companion Jack. Friends may call at the St. Xavier Church, 607 Sycamore Street, Cincinnati, OH, Saturday, June 9, 2007 from 8:30 A.M. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:45 A.M. Memorials may be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 10, 8418 Reading Road, Cincinnati, OH 45215, the Disabled American Veterans National HQS, 3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Springs, KY 41071, the American Diabetes Association, 644 Linn Street, Cincinnati, OH 45203 or charity of choice.
