Stanley GOODMAN Obituary
GOODMAN
Stanley age 83, died on May 16, 2015. Born in Cincinnati June 16, 1931 to Ethel and Sol Goodman. He graduated from Walnut Hills High School Class of 1949, the University of Cincinnati and the University of Cincinnati School of Law. He began practice in 1955 with his father, and was joined by his brother Ronald in the family law firm Goodman & Goodman. His son Jeffrey joined the practice in 1992. In 2005 he was honored by the Ohio State Bar Association and the Cincinnati Bar Association for fifty years of practice of law. A true advocate, his career spanned sixty years. He was a member of the Cincinnati Bar, Ohio Bar, Kentucky Bar and American Bar Associations. He was a man of great integrity, quiet strength, and grace. He loved his work, family, and life. Many sought his advice and wise counsel. He created a legacy and will be missed by all who had the opportunity to know and love him. He is survived by his wife Diane, children Julie and Stephen Lerner, Jeffrey Goodman and Rebeca Arbona, Dr. Richard and Karen Goodman, grandchildren, Jeremy and David Lerner, Brian, Melissa, and Jennifer Goodman, and Sofia and Marcus Goodman, and sister Josephine Stillpass and brother Ronald and Lois Goodman. Funeral services Weil Funeral Home, 8350 Cornell Road, Tuesday, May 19 at 11:00AM. Visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday begins at 10:00AM. Shiva will be observed at his residence Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, 7:00-9:00PM. The Goodman brothers leave a remarkable legacy. Dr. Goodman was a friend of my father. Stan was one of the last lawyers who practise successfully in any field, and always kind in the process.

Knew Mr. Goodman from working in the golf shop at Losantiville Country Club. Quiet and kind, he was a first-class guy. Will be missed.

Stan was a mentor and a friend, always with a kind word. When I was a young lawyer making mistakes in a case with Stan, he never embarrassed me but helped everywhere he could without compromising his own client's interests. I hope I have followed his example.

Stanley became my close friend and mentor after preparing and conducting a 15 day trial in Columbus 35 years ago. I learned more in that trial and the events leading up to it, than all my law school years, he was so very GOOD at his "lawyering".After that we golfed, vacationed, and remained close friends. I talked with him last Thursday for quite awhile, finishing with his usual refrain, "Come to Cincinnati and we will have a good meal together and talk." I have many friends but very few as close as Stan. He will remain in my heart the rest of my life. I miss and will always miss his ready laugh, love of family, and remarkable stories. A lifetime of service to family, friends and his profession will be missed.

Sleep well Stanley Goodman. A true gent and a great model w/r/t making the most of life's blessings and pleasures. My favorite and lasting image of Stan is at the Gourmet Room, just bursting with pride following Richard's bar mitzvah. Little did I know he would continue bursting with pride for the next 38 years. Much love to the family, and a sincere salute to Stan whose soft voice and wit I remember fondly, and will miss.
