Thomas Helmick Obituary
Thomas Robert Helmick, 79, Cincinnati, died on May 23, 2021. Tom was born in Cincinnati on November 27, 1941. He graduated from St. Xavier High School in 1959 and Xavier University in 1963, then entered the Jesuit Seminary before returning to Xavier to obtain a Master's in English in 1967.
With a passion for literature, Tom enjoyed a teaching career that spanned 20 years. He then enjoyed a second career in hospital chaplaincy that engaged his tremendous interpersonal skills in ministering to people of all walks of life.
Tom, and partner Jody Winkler, returned to Cincinnati in 2016 where they relished in reconnecting with family and long-time friends, and made many new friends as well.
While Tom loved many people, his pride and joy were in his children, Jennifer (Robert) Divney of Sun Prairie, WI; Kristin (Peter) Clingan of Columbus, OH; Katherine (Kevin) Tollefson of Shoreview, MN; 11 grandchildren and great grandson. Tom was lovingly engaged in their lives and always available for a fireside chat.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Louise Helmick.
Funeral services will be held at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Cincinnati on July 23 at 11 AM.
