Janet Eitel

Orient Janet Eitel, age 78, died peacefully at her home in Orient, Ohio, surrounded by the love of her family. Janet was born on October 29, 1946 in Louisa, Kentucky to Larue and Dora (Chmiel) Blankenship. She graduated from Jackson High School in 1964. Janet started her career in the insurance industry at Grange Insurance in Columbus, Ohio. Janet ended her career at Grange in 1975 to stay at home to raise her sons. Janet later returned to the insurance industry and worked as a customer service representative at Hummel and Plum Insurance Agency in Mt. Sterling, Ohio. After a successful career at Hummel and Plum Janet retired in June of 2011. Janet is survived by her husband: Jeffrey Eitel, Sons: Jeffrey Eitel (and his wife, Alexis), Jason Eitel (and his wife, Kira), Grandchildren: Jett, Kingston, Ella, Annalise, Landyn, Addison and Aubrey, Siblings: Patricia (Blankenship) Cook, Cary Blankenship, Tom Blankenship, Linda (Blankenship/Cliff) Whaley, Joanne (Blankenship/Brian) Eitel, John (Rhonda) Blankenship, Beloved nieces, nephews and numerous others. Preceded in death: great grandparents: Walter and LeBess Chmiel, Charlie and Eva (Carpenter) Blankenship, Parents: Larue and Dora (Chmiel) Blankenship, Brother: Eric Blankenship, Niece: Julie (Blankenship) Evans, Nephews: Shane J. Cook and Johnny Blankenship, Brothers-in-law: James F. Cook, Larry and Danny Eitel, Sister-in-law: Sandy Eitel, Numerous beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. Janet touched many lives with her kind heart, warm smile and welcoming spirit. She was a loving wife to Jeff, her high school sweetheart for 56 years. Janet was a devoted and loving mother to her son's and her true joy was her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed. Visitation was on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. with burial to follow in Springlawn Cemetery.
