Cecil Coolidge Fisher

Weaverville - Cecil Coolidge Fisher, age 88, of Sunset Drive, died Sunday, April 28, 2013.

Mr. Fisher was born June 3, 1924, in Madison County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of his life. He was a 1942 graduate of Marshall High School. He was an owner-operator with North American Van Lines. Cecil served in the Pacific in the US Navy aboard the destroyer USS Brush during World War II and was awarded a Silver Star, the Philippines Liberation Medal and three Bronze Stars. Of the Baptist faith, he attended Weaverville United Methodist Church. Woodworking was his hobby following retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Perkins and Etta Jane Deweese Fisher; brothers, Homer and Clay Fisher; sisters, Beatrice Bradley, Blanche Roberts, Beulah Fisher, and Vaughanta Lee Faulkner.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Doris East Fisher; daughters, Cheryl Diane Fisher of Asheville and Pamela Kay Fisher of Richmond; son, Phillip Anthony Fisher and wife Denise of Swannanoa; grandchildren, Emma and Leah Fisher of Swannanoa.

His funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2013, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Pastor Randy Stone officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Rd., Flat Rock, NC 28731.
