David Anderson Obituary

David J. "Andy" Anderson, Jr.

Asheville - David J. Anderson, Jr. (Andy) passed away on August 31, 2015. He was born June 6, 1922 in Baird, Texas. He was the only son of the late David J. Anderson Sr. and Franky Anderson. He was preceded in death by his sister, Reba Jane West.

Andy served his country as a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and subsequently retired as a Major from the U.S. Air Force. During his military career he flew atomic bomb testing missions in the Pacific. He also loved his distinguished second career as a High School Mathematics teacher in Warren Michigan.

Andy was called to live in many places around the world that were always considered home if he was with his beloved wife of over 65 years, Pat Anderson. He taught his children and grandchildren the importance of honesty, respect for all people, appreciation and knowledge of the outdoors, and how to care for animals whether part of the family or in the wild. He will be missed sorely by his family for many things including his steadfast love, dependability, strength, and sense of humor. Also his ability to answer any question from engineering/mechanics or mathematics to fishing/hunting or chopping wood.

Andy is survived by his wife, Edna P. (Pat) Anderson; son David J. Anderson, III and his wife Deb Anderson; daughter Tricia L. Trinité and her husband Mickey Trinité; son Joseph S. Anderson and son Mark T. Anderson. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Rebecca Trinité, Laura Beardsley, Michael Trinité, Melissa Anderson, Sherri Anderson, Emma Anderson; and two very new great-grandsons, Samuel Lewis Trinité and Aiden David Beardsley.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, September 11, 2015 at Grace Episcopal Church in Asheville NC with the Reverend Gary Coffey officiating. His remains will be interred at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, kindly make a donation in Andy's memory to the Wounded Warriors Project (https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org).
