Douglas Farmer Obituary
Canton - Douglas McKay "Chick" Farmer, age 69, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2013 at his residence.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Henry Branson and Laura Ann Lee Crawford Farmer. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Danny and Michael Farmer; a sister, Kathy Brashear; and a half-brother, Billy Farmer. He retired from Blue Ridge Paper with 40 years of service. Chick enjoyed spending time being outside, especially riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting and had lots of fond times at his property in Georgia. Chick had a special bond with his terrier, Jack, who was always by his side. He was a member of the National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, of 47 years, Sarah Farmer; two daughters, Sharon Mull and her husband, Jeremiah, of Canton and Alisa Pressley and Marvin Crawford of Canton; and a grandson, Jesse McKay Mull.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Martin Worley officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
