Edward Cox Obituary
Asheville - Edward Franklin Cox, 86, of Asheville, died Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at Flesher's of Fairview Healthcare Center.
A native of Buncombe Co., Ed was a son of the late William and Molly West Cox. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Lois Owen, Evelyn Hodges, Viola Thompson and Virginia Cox, and brothers Walter, Winford, William "Bill" Grady, and James Ray Cox.
Mr. Cox owned and operated Cox Auto Service for many years. He was a member of High Vista Country Club, where he loved to golf on the course he helped to build. He also enjoyed gardening and yard work.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy R. Cox; daughter, Tammy Diann Cox Tenpenny and husband Ray; son, Douglas Edward Cox; grandchildren, Jessica Cox Lytle, Courtney Davis, Aaron Tenpenny, and Lindsey Tenpenny; and great-grandchildren Nolan Grady Lusk, Molly Ray Lusk, Charlie Jefferson Lytle, Wyatt Dean Lytle, Tatum Bailey Davis and Berkley Quinn Davis.
The memorial service for Mr. Cox will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, 31 Glendale Ave., Asheville, NC 28803.
