Hedberg
Asheville - Eric Wallace Hedberg, 59, died April 25, 2013 after a short illness at his home in Asheville, NC.
Eric was born in Akron, Ohio, and spent his childhood and youth in Sweden, Akron, Jamaica, Italy, and Germany. A resident of Asheville since 1984, he was employed by Earth Fare and Greenlife groceries managing their bulk food departments.
Eric is predeceased by his parents, Bertil Helmer Hedberg of Stockholm, Sweden, and Patricia Wallace Hedberg of Akron, Ohio. He is survived by his loving brother Cris (Anette) of Järna, Sweden and beloved sister Karin (Gerald Hyatt) of Weaverville, NC, as well extended family in Sweden and many, many devoted friends spanning the globe.
In celebration of Eric's life, a musical gathering will be held at The Altamont Brewing Co. at 1042 Haywood Road in Asheville on Saturday, May 4, 2013 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. All are invited and musicians are encouraged to bring their instruments.
In lieu of flowers, suggested memorial contributions may be found in Eric's full obituary at www.morrisfamilyfuneralhome.
Morris Funeral Home, 304 Merrimon Avenue is assisting the family.

I worked with Eric years ago doing late nights at Dinner For The Earth. He sure could put on an entertaining show with his saxophone, and the acoustics upstairs. He will be greatly missed.

We just learned of Eric's passing and unfortunately missed the musical celebration of his life. He was always so supportive of his fellow musician friends and loved to talk about music and musicians he admired. Heartfelt condolences to his family and many friends.

I met Eric in Rome during high school. His spirit was larger than life! I smile as I type remembering his vibrate, fun and positive nature. How sad to hear of his passing so young, our world needs people like him. I'm thankful to have known him. Tom Hanrahan

I met Eric while working at Dunham's Music. I was always astounded by his playing. His love of his Pat Methany Guitar and his never ending search for new inspiration. He was a great guy. I am deeply saddened in learning of his passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. Be Blessed one and all with the knowledge of his guidance from above. Thank You My Friend!

Eric and I crossed paths many times in my 14+ years here in Asheville, much of it when I would be out gigging and playing music with our mutual friend, Frank Southecorvo. Eric was always so kind and was one of the guys who was 'always there' checking out the scene. Rest in peace...
