Foss Howell Obituary
Spindale - James Edward 'Foss' Howell, age 70 of Spindale, formerly of Mitchell County, died Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Hospice of Rutherford County.
Born on April 15, 1941 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Boyd and Erah Silver Howell. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife; Evelyn Ensor Howell; his sisters; June Phillips, Jenella Tipton, Joyce Grindstaff and a brother-in-law; George Grindstaff. Mr. Howell was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
The funeral service for Mr. 'Foss' Howell will be conducted on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 3:00 pm in the Grindstaff Memorial Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Hollifield officiating. Interment will follow in the Silver Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 1:00 pm until the service hour in the funeral home chapel.
Left to cherish his memories are his daughter; Jennifer Metcalf of Harris, NC; his stepsons; Gene Yelton of Spruce Pine and Joe Yelton of Newland; brother; George Howell of Florida; sisters; Jerelene Howell of Swannanoa and Judy Bennett of Charlotte; three grandchildren; and four step grandchildren.
