Frank McClure Killian, Jr.

Franklin - Frank McClure Killian, Jr., a native of Macon County, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2012. He was 75 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Frank McClure Killian and his brother, Dr. John H. Killian.

He graduated from Franklin High School in 1955 and the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts in History in 1960. He held several teaching positions in secondary education and was the operator of the Killian Hereford Farm in Cartoogechaye for over forty years. He was an active member of the Watauga Baptist Church and dedicated himself to carefully crafting his Sunday school lessons.

He was a proud member of the farming community in Cartoogechaye and was well-known for his love of cattle, gardening and discussing the weather. However, he will be remembered most for his generosity, thoughtfulness and gentle spirit.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Ann Mignon and brother, Dr. Paul Killian; five nephews and one niece; and three close friends, Edward Nolen, Harold Huscusson and J.J. McCall.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 3rd at Macon Funeral Home located at 261 Iotla Street, Franklin, NC 28734. Rev. Steve Reeves and Rev. Roy Lowe will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am, Saturday, November 3rd at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Ed Nolen, Harold Huscusson, J.J. McCall, Adam Huscusson, Frank Killian, Hume Killian and Paul Mignon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to, The Watauga Baptist Church, P.O. Box 2022, Franklin, NC 28744 or The Wayne Profitt Scholarship Fund; P.O Box 2182, Franklin, NC 28744.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
