Fred Ensley Obituary

Fred Ensley, Jr.

Simpsonville, SC - Fred Ensley, Jr., 74 passed away January 24, 2014, at McCall's Hospice House in Simpsonville, SC.

He was born on Sept. 24th 1939 in Ashville, NC to Fred Erwin Ensley Sr. and Marjorie Powell Ensley.

Fred grew up in the Swannanoa Valley. He graduated from Owen High School in Swannanoa, NC in 1958. After high school he attended Gardner Webb college on a football scholarship. Fred joined Aflac in 1978 and was a state and company wide sales and management leader for 35 years. Fred was a member of First Baptist Church of Simpsonville.

Fred was married to the love of his life, Yvonne for 54 years.

He enjoyed spending time with family, grandchildren, friends and traveling.

Fred was preceded in death by Fred E. Ensley Sr.; stepmother, Evelyn Gilbert Ensley; and mother, Marjorie Powell Ensley.

Fred is survived by his wife, Yvonne of Simpsonville, SC; sons Jeff (Iris) and Mark (Kim) of Simpsonville, SC; and grandchildren, Austin, Zach, Brady, Lexa and Connor of Simpsonville, SC; brother, Steve Ensley (Renne'); and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at First Baptist Church of Simpsonville, 3 Hedge St., Simpsonville, SC 29681 on Tuesday January 28, 2014 at 2pm.

A memorial service will be held at Harwood Home for Funerals, 208 West State St, Black Mountain, NC Sunday, February 2, 2014 at 2pm.

Visitation will be after each service. Burial will follow the Memorial service at Mountain View Park in Black Mountain, NC.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to McCalls Hospice House, 1836 W. Georgia Rd., Simpsonville, SC 29680.

Fred has been a Legend in South Carolina Aflac for all of his career and accomplishments. He is one of the most respected men with his ethics, fairness, giving spirit, and love for everyone in all of Aflac. Fred inspired me to become part of this great Aflac family!
