Gladys Penland Obituary
Penland
Asheville - Gladys Ray Penland, of 1 Penland Place, died Thursday, March 9, 2011. A native of Monroe County, MS she was a daughter of the late MonroeVerner and the late Emma Lou Thomas.
Surviving are her daughters, Deborah Penland of Leicester, Stephanie Benson of Asheville, Jackie Abuwi of Augusta, GA, Cassandra Benson of San Diego, CA, Lisa Combs of San Diego, CA, Lynda Benson of San Diego, CA and Wanda Benson of Los Angeles, CA; sons, Floyd Benson of Charlotte and Eric Penland of Leicester; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Penland; a son Glenny Penland and daughter, Freda Benson.
Service will be held Wednesday at Noon in the chapel of Hart Funeral Service. Burial will be in WC State Veteran's Cemetery.

Deborah,
I was so sorry to read of your mother's passing. Even though I did not know her, I know 2 things about her. First, she had a very special daughter in you and second, you looked so much like her. My deepest condolences to you and your family.
