Julia Capps was the best English teacher I ever had. I am presently writing a book on Thomas Wolfe for Mercer University Press. Her inspiration figured prominently into my desire and ability to undertake such a project. Her memory is special.

So very sorry to hear that we've lost Dr. Capps. She was a "gift" to so many of us in her years of teaching. She will always be remembered fondly.

Julia Capps was probably the best teacher I had pre-college. In 1961 she was herself only a few years older than we know-it-all Lee Edwards juniors, but thanks to her incredible enthusiasm, intellect, and instructional skills, she owned us immediately and did so much to prepare us for higher education and to be discerning learners all our lives. I am thankful I was able to talk with her some years ago at our 40th reunion.

Julia Capps was an absolutely wonderful English teacher and a major attribute to the teaching profession. Her inspiration prompted me to major in English in college and to spend my entire career coordinating religious publications. Her influence on thousands of students is incalculable.

Ms. Capps was loved by those fortunate enough to have her as a teacher. Sadly, I was not one of her students but did know her while at Lee Edwards. She attended our 50 th. Class Reunion for the class of 1961 and visited with everyone. I knew she had been ill and was sad to hear she had passed away. My condolences to her family. Rest in God's hands
Ms. Capps.
