Perrin Todd Obituary

PERRIN TODD

BLACK MOUNTAIN - Perrin Todd entered into life eternal on November 4, 2011 at the hospice Solace Center in Asheville, N.C. after suffering a massive stroke. He was 56 years old.

Perrin was the son of the Rev. Dr. Wayne Todd and Mary Taylor Todd. He is survived by his mother, Mary, of Asheville; his wife of twenty two years, Donna Marie Todd and his son, Torey Morgan Todd, both of Black Mountain, N.C.; his brother, Rev. Dr. Taylor Todd (Abby) of Birmingham, Ala.; his sisters, Alice Butker (Bennett) of Atlanta, Ga., Martha Sloan (Ross) of Flat Rock, N.C., and Charlotte Fitzpatrick (Steve) of Louisville, Ky.; as well as seven nieces and nephews.

Perrin was a fine art portrait and commercial photographer whose clients included television star Art Linkletter, the Peabody Hotel and Graceland. His portraits are treasured by families across the southeast. He received a BBA from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn. and a BFA in photography from the University of North Alabama.

He was a decorated Eagle scout and a member of the Black Mountain Rotary Club.

He was a member of Black Mountain Presbyterian Church where he had served as an elder and played guitar and mandolin with the Prophets of Praise. An avid mountain biker, swimmer and runner, he loved the mountains and being outdoors in any athletic activity.

A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 12 in the sanctuary of Black Mountain Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, please make a gift to the environmental charity of your choice, Black Mountain Presbyterian Church or Heifer International.

Perrin took an amazing photo of my late husband and his beloved Springers! He came to our home and really captured the essence of Stewart and the home which he loved! Today, two years after Stewart's death, that photo is an essential and permanent place in the home ----a daily reminder of our special Stewart ---produced by a very special man, Perrin. I hope Perrin's family is doing well ----thank you for allowing us to again pay tribute to Perrin.

It is with great sadness that we have learned of Perrin's passing. It is difficult to comprehend that it was only a few short weeks ago when visiting the USA from Australia that we called in to visit Perrin and Donna Marie at Black Mountain. We thought of Perrin as a gentle soul. He was a beautiful man with a gorgeous wife and son. It didn't take much to see that he adored them and they him. Our thoughts are with you Donna Marie and Torey. Love to you both. Lorene and Ian Bullivant, Brisbane, Australia

To The Perrin Todd Family,

I'am very sorry about your loss. The Bible tells us at Isaiah 29:8,9 that death will be swallowed up and there will be no more tears.

I was shocked and saddened to find out about Perrin. Perrin and I were next-door-neighbors on Kearney in Memphis for a couple of years back in the 80's and also became friends. We hooked bak up on fb, and though we didn't communicate much, I enjoyed trading that same sense of humor and joy for life through our emails that was always Perrin. I remember that Perrin was deeply knowledgeable about many things and just had this great enthusiasm for life. Perrin Todd, what a decent wonderful human being.

In high school in Florence Perrin and I spent hours in band playing french horn, and weekends stomping in the woods. These were great times we spent together, and all I can say is "Thanks, Friend!"
