Richard Queen

Fairview - Richard Aurther Queen, 73, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017 after a brief illness at St. Joseph Hospital.

Mr. Queen was born in Buncombe County to the late John A. Queen and Julie Martin Queen. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Queen.

Richard graduated from T.C. Roberson High School. He served 28 years as a Police Officer and served with the City of Asheville Police for 19 years before retiring.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Queen; three children, Suzie Sanders (Bobby), Rebecca Queen (Scott Ramsey) and Bryan Queen (Crystal); two step-children, Marc Landon and Lauren Guyton; two sisters, Virginia Emblom and Sue Queen; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held, Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 12:00 pm at Calvary Episcopal Churchyard in Fletcher with Reverend Gerald Davis officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org
