Wayne Sorrells Obituary
Sorrells
Asheville - The Rev. Wayne E. Sorrells, 79, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Mission Hospital. He was born December 3, 1932 in Haywood County to the late Rev. William and Emma Birchfield Sorrells. Wayne was also preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Sorrells.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virgie Sorrells; a son, Andrew Sorrells; a daughter, Jerusha Myrick (Tony); two grandsons, Mitchell Myrick and Trevor Sorrells; two brothers, Rev. Paul Sorrells (June) and Chester Sorrells (Catherine); four sisters, Evelyn Fouts, Nancy Gardner (Jim), Lois Dellinger (Pete) and Joyce Gardner (Jerry) and several nieces and nephews.
Rev. Sorrells and his wife were Foreign Missionaries in Brazil and pastored many churches throughout WNC, including, Ninevah, Mt. Zion and Crestview (Haywood Co), Temple and Grace (Transylvania Co), Emma (Buncombe Co), Buff Creek and Webster (Jackson Co). He started the Director of Missions in Transylvania County and was Director of Missions in Haywood County.
The family will hold a private graveside service 2 PM Saturday at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park in Waynesville.
A Celebration of Life will be held 3 PM Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Sunrise Baptist Church in West Asheville of which he was a member.

Don't know if you remember but Wayne baptized my son Heath Jones when he was ten years old at Buff Creek.Heath grew in to a wonderful Christian man and he and his family are still very involved in church
I have always had the utmost respect for Wayne. He was a good man. Our prayers are with you and your life family

Virgie, as all of you celebrate Wayne's life on Sunday, please know the Norman family is thinking and praying for you. We will never forget your kindness to us during the sickness and loss of our parents.( Grady & Ruth) Wayne was special and we all looked forward to his visits.
