William "Perry" Fisher

Hendersonville - William "Perry" Fisher, age 87 of Hendersonville, died Monday, February 26th, 2018 at the Elizabeth House surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 21st, 1930 in Henderson County; one of twelve children of the late Sheridan Lee Fisher and Rosa Lee Holcombe Fisher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 41 years, Maryann Kirby Fisher; five brothers, George, Graham, Miles, Arnold and Charlie Fisher; and by four sisters, Myrtle Camp, Catherine Summey, Lucy Anders and Margaret Norwood.

A native of Henderson County; he met and married the love of his life, Maryann, in London, England while serving his country in the United States Air Force where he achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. He was an Electrical Engineering graduate of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and worked in the NASA Space Program on the Saturn 5 project. He taught Engineering at AB Tech for 25 years, and owned industrial electronics and was an avid thinker.

Henderson County lost one of its own with his passing. He had lifelong friendships and an extended network of people that meant so much to him and his family.

He is survived by his three children, Taunia Fisher Richardson (Neil) and Cheryl Fisher Phibbs (Steve); and Perry Fisher (Renee); ten grandchildren, Lindsey, Andrew, Victoria, Colin, Spencer, William, Phillip, Tyler, Carrie and Megan; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Herman; and by one sister, Barbara.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28th, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church of Hendersonville officiated by the Reverend Christy Sharp. Entombment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

His family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Perry's memory be directed to the First United Methodist Church of Hendersonville, Education Fund, 204 6th Avenue West, Hendersonville, NC 28739; or to your favorite charity.

So sorry to hear of his passing. Perry Fisher taught me Electronics at AB Tech in the 1980's and was a great teacher and a fine mentor. He helped me to get my first job which secured my financial stability.
