Candler - Wilma Jean Buchanan Rogers, 75, of Candler, died on Thursday, October 29, 2015, at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals.

A native of Mitchell Co., NC, Mrs. Rogers was a daughter of the late Ora and Nell Ledford Buchanan. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Wathena McKinney, Arvella Palmer, and Paul Buchanan.

Mrs. Rogers attended Enka High School. She was a longtime member of Pole Creek Baptist Church and of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She also loved being a member of the WNC Women's Bowling Association.

Mrs. Rogers is survived by her husband, H.B. Rogers, Jr.; son, Larry Rogers and wife Debbie; siblings, Sherrill Buchanan, Anna Laura Trull, Ricky Buchanan, and Sandra Romero; grandsons, Josh and Jacob Rogers; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for Mrs. Rogers will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Dennis Thurman and the Rev. Rusty Buchanan, her nephew, officiating.

Mrs. Rogers will lie in state all day Sunday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. for anyone wishing to pay their respects.

Flowers are appreciated, or memorials may be made to Pole Creek Baptist Church, 96 Snow Hill Church Rd., Candler, NC 28715.
