Alberta Kolojejchick Obituary

Alberta L. Kolojejchick, 73, a life resident of Swoyersville, passed into eternal life surrounded by her loving family on Sunday evening, May 21, 2017, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, following a brief illness.

Her beloved husband was the late John A. Kolojejchick Sr., who passed away May 24, 1987. Together, John and Alberta shared nearly 19 beautiful years of marriage.

Born May 22, 1943, in Swoyersville, Alberta was one of six children born to the late Stanley and Helen Swaboski Romanowski.

Alberta was a graduate of the former West Side Central Catholic High School, Class of 1961. She went on to attend Empire Beauty School, Wilkes-Barre, where she received her professional certification in cosmetology.

Prior to her retirement, Alberta was employed for many years by the former Valley Crest Nursing Home, Wilkes-Barre, where she worked as both a beautician and certified nurses' assistant.

Alberta was a life member of the former St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, Swoyersville, where she served as an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist, taught CCD and was actively involved in the church's Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults program.

Following the consolidation of her church, Alberta became a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville, where she served as an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist, and faithfully visited the sick and homebound of the parish to administer the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Alberta was actively involved with her parish's Social Concerns Committee, Pastoral Council, Seton Prayer Chain, core committee for "Call to Holiness and Mission," and Altar Guild Pirohy Makers.

Alberta's life was sustained by her deep faith and her great devotion to the Divine Mercy.

A woman of many enjoyments, Alberta especially enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, helping those who were in need, cooking for her family, entertaining her family during the holidays, tending to her flower garden and spending time with her beloved companions, her cats, Natasha and Abby.

In addition to her parents, Stanley and Helen Romanowski, and her husband, John Sr., Alberta was preceded in death by her brother, Stanley Romanowski; her sisters, Florence Davies, Frances Skiendziel and Charlotte Romanowski; and her son-in-law, Joseph Backo.

Alberta is survived by her son, Andrew Kolojejchick and his wife, Diane, Forty Fort; her sister, Mary Ann Romanowski, Swoyersville; her stepson, John A. Kolojejchick Jr. and his wife, Evelyn, Oil City; her stepdaughter, Lorraine Backo, Exeter; her four stepgrandchildren; her three step-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Leona Romanowski, Sinking Spring; and her many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family wishes to extend their most sincere thanks to Alberta's neighbors and the daily Mass attendees at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish for always being there for her. They wish to also thank her medical team and kind nursing staff at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for the excellent care they bestowed upon her.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, which will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Friday from Wroblewski Funeral Home Inc., 1442 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes St., Swoyersville, with the Rev. Joseph J. Pisaneschi, her pastor, officiating.

Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Cemetery, Cedar Street, Exeter.

Family and friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
