Andrea Picchi

Andrea Picchi, 72, of Harveys Lake, passed away at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital on Thursday, Dec. 16.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Richard J. Maher and Elizabeth M. Morgus. She was a 1968 graduate of Central Catholic High School, and a 1972 graduate of King's College. Andrea was in the first women's class for social work.

Andrea was a wonderful wife, devoted mother and grandmother. She loved her family. In her later years she took care of her grandchildren, accompanying them to sporting events and being an avid supporter in which they were the light of her life.

Andrea was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church. She was a member of the Harveys Lake Women's Club, president of Harveys Lake Little League, and the PTA of Lake Noxen Elementary School. She was employed as a social worker for Valley Crest.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Frank Picchi; daughter, Heather Gensel and husband Reggie, Harveys Lake; son, Ryan Picchi and Robin Stever, West Wyoming. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Alahna Morris and Ayden Picchi. Also surviving are her sister, Michelle Coombs and husband Kevin, Dallas; sister-in-laws, Nancy Bohonko and Michael, Plains Twp., and Carol Kosisky, Dallas; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by sister, Sharon Eddy.

Andrea's family would like to extend a very heartfelt appreciation to Harveys Lake Chief of Police Charlie Musial, Dr. Saidman, Dr. Peters and Dr. Kevin Carey.

A blessing service will be held Monday at 7 p.m. at Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
