Anna Gatusky Obituary

Anna Gatusky, 73, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, May 2, 2018, at Guardian Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Sheatown, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Ashley, she was a daughter of the late John and Helen Myerski. She was a graduate of Ashley/Sugar Notch High School.

Anna met the love of her life, Joseph Gatusky, at the Sans Souci dances. They had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in February 2018. They had two children who definitely made life interesting and kept her on her toes!

She found great enjoyment tending to her flowers and hanging baskets, as well as watching/feeding the many birds that found a home in her yard. Being an animal lover, she especially loved all of her pets, most of which were rescues. It is doubtful that any other dog or cat could be happier than the ones who shared her home.

She loved listening to music and could polka like nobody's business. She loved country/bluegrass music, especially Willie Nelson, Dwight Yoakam and John Prine. But don't let her fool you - she grew up when good old rock 'n' roll was invented, and even used to clean the house listening to Van Halen and AC/DC!

She loved western movies and Hallmark Christmas movies. She loved playing scratch-off tickets and was very lucky in doing so! Holidays were always a celebration, and one could always expect an overflowing "goodie bag," because she loved to share the joy of food. In later years her favorite activity was playing Christmas Bingo to win scratch-off tickets.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Gatusky; son, Joseph Gatusky Jr. and spouse, Teressa Gatusky; daughter, Suzanne Gatusky-George and spouse, Robert George; sister-in-law, Marlene Woznicki; and nieces and nephews.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

The Gatusky family would like to extend thanks to all of her doctors, nurses, home care nurses and aides, and hospice care staff/nurses, as well as the case managers throughout the Commonwealth Health and Geisinger systems for their tireless effort in her care.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Mayo Funeral Home Inc., 77 N. Main St., Shickshinny, with the Rev. Louis Kaminski officiating.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the animal rescue organization of the donor's choice.
