Anna Spinozza Obituary

Anna Roscoe Spinozza, 94, of Throop, a former Dunmore resident, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, following a lengthy illness in VNA Hospice at Geisinger Community Medical Center. She was predeceased by her husband, Rocco Spinozza, in 1974.

Anna was born in Scranton, daughter of the late Konstanty and Michaelina Roscoe.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, the Amalgamated Garment Workers, and worked for more than 30 years at Scranton Garment, Dunmore.

She enjoyed cooking for her family, especially at holiday gatherings, loved to dance, especially the polka, playing bingo, going to the casino, and playing cards.

Special thanks to Dr. Richard Martin and the VNA Hospice staff at Geisinger CMC for their compassionate care.

Surviving are her daughters, Rosemary Yurchak, Throop, with whom she resided; Barbara Franceschelli and her husband, Anthony J. Franceschelli, Middleboro, Mass.; Olympia Reese and her husband, James Reese, Dunmore; and Roxanne Spinozza, Scranton; and son, Anthony Spinozza and his wife, Diane, Hanover Township.

Anna had 10 grandchildren, Anthony, Mark, Michael, Kimberlee, Alexandra, James, Patrick, Leigh Ann, Dana and Kevin. Anna had 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Stella Chester and Emily Capobinaco, and brothers, Chester and Stanley Roscoe.

A true matriarch of her family, Anna was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother devoted to her family.

The funeral will be Saturday from Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Taylor Avenue and East Gibson Street, Scranton.

Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice, 307 Delaware Ave., Olyphant, PA 18447.
