Dr. Arthur Nathaniel Meyer, 87, of Kingston, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp., from complications related to a recent surgery.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Rose and Max Meyer and graduated from Exeter High School. Dr. Meyer completed his medical training in Philadelphia and returned to the Wyoming Valley in 1967, where he became the first hematologist/oncologist in town. Dr. Meyer maintained an active private practice for decades and he later joined Geisinger, where he was the inaugural director of the cancer center. In his capacity as a compassionate and brilliant practitioner, he touched the lives of many thousands of people. Dr. Meyer was active in the community, a life member of Temple Israel, a member of the Jewish Community Center and a supporter of the Philharmonic. He was also an avid sports fan, with an encyclopedic knowledge of all professional sports. Most especially, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Always encouraging and generous to a fault, his family was his life.

I cannot begin to express the gratitude my family has for Dr. Meyer and all the years of life he gave to our mother. I will never forget him saying that she came from "good stock" and "they dont make people like her anymore". Whether it was because she was from Exeter or where her family came from doesn´t matter. I am so thankful for him and the life he gave to his patients. I am so sorry for your family´s loss.
